Born in 1980, Attiya received her Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts in 2004. She also holds another Bachelor’s degree from the Lahore College for Women University in 2000. Her creative practice draws heavily from personal tragedy. She weaves her personal struggles into her art, using poignant images such as spines, vertebrae, and mechanical parts, to create a dichotomy between the past and present, the organic and the mechanic. She along with several other contemporary Pakistani artists is reviving the age-old tradition of miniature painting by incorporating them into modern contexts.
