Hanif  Shehzad  is  known  for  his  bustling  and  lively  cityscapes  and  he  recently  exhibited  his  work  at  ArtCiti  Gallery.  The  artist  takes  great  pride  in  creating  life  like  paintings  of  local  monuments  and  heritage  buildings  at  the  same  time  capturing  the  surrounding  areas  in  their  day  to  day  hustle.  Beautiful  heritage  buildings,  within  Pakistan  and  globally  as  well,  are  immortalised  on  Hanif  Shehzad’s  canvas.
 
His  play  with  light  and  shadows    is  worth  noting.  Hanif  tries  to  capture  buildings  as  they  are,  the  natural  light  plays  a  huge  role  in  his  work.  Great  attention  to  detail  is  captured.  Intricacies  and  architectural  nuances  are  all  beautifully  painted  by  Hanif.  However,  the  buildings  are  not  complete  without  their  surroundings  scenes  and  Hanif  does  a  spectacular  job  capturing  those  too.  Shopkeepers  in  their  shops  selling  items,  men  and  women  rushing  past  as  they  go  about  their  day,  some  people  just  sitting  on  the  side  as  they  people  watch  all  the  while  with  the  sun  shining  down    makes  for  a  lively  and  beautiful  painting.
 
A  particular  eye  catching  piece  shows  the  Mereweather  Tower  in  Karachi.  The  Tower  Merewether  Tower  is  a  neo-gothic  clocktower  built  during  the  Victorian  era.    The  tower  is  a  landmark  in  central  Karachi,  and  is  at  the  termini  of  two  of  the  mostimportant  roads  in  central  Karachi:  Muhammad  Ali  Jinnah  Road  and  I.  I.  Chundrigar  Road.  It  is  an  extremely  busy  and  chaotic  location  and  Hanif  Shehzad  has  done  absolute  justice  in  capturing  all  the  activity  that  surrounds  it.
Another  beautiful  piece  shows  Noor  Mahal  Palace.  The  Noor  Mahal  is  a  Pakistan  Army-owned  palace  in  Bahawalpur,  Punjab,  Pakistan.  It  was  built  in  1872  like  an  Italian  chateau  on  neoclassical  lines,  at  a  time  when  modernism  had  set  in.  Itbelonged  to  the  Nawabs  of  Bahawalpur  princely  state,  during  British  Raj.The  stunning  architecture  has  been  wonderfully  captured  by  the  artist.  It  worth  mentioning  that  the  artist  pays  close  attention  to  detail  resulting  in  an  almost  replica  of  the  actual  Palace.
 
Hanif  Shehzad’s  talent  and  hard  work  shine  through  his  paintings.  His  dedication  and  love  for  art  is  evident  in  each  piece  that  he  paints.  A  wonderful  exhibition  for  artists,  art  collectors  and  art  enthusiasts.
