"A  solo  show  exhibiting  the  recent  works  by  S.M.  Naqvi  was  held  in  Karachi  at  Clifton  Art  Gallery.  Using  personal  experiences  and  inspiration  from  nature,  travels  and  day  to  day  adventures  the  artist  has  put  together  this  wonderfully  moving  exhibition.  
“I  am  inspired  by  beauty.  I  find  beauty  everywhere  in  thoughts,  emotions,  situations,  experiences,  travelling  and  adventures.  I  believe  beauty  is  a  necessity  of  life  and  a  way  to  experience  a  sense  of  eternity.  My  paintings  are  meant  to  be  read  and  felt.  The  intense  colours,  bold  strokes  are  stories  and  takes  of  fantasy  as  well  as  reality.  My  intent  is  to  make  art  that  stirs  the  soul  and  connects  us  not  only  to  the  beauty
of  the  human  experience  but  also  for  what  lies  beyond  our  sight.  Season  2  is  a  continuation  of  my  first  show.  My  paintings  are  an  expression  that  gives  a  sense  of  freedom  and  feels  pure  and  uninhabited.”

S.M.  Naqvi’s  distinctive  abstract  art  is  without  a  doubt  thought  provoking  and  engaging.    His  uses  visual  language  of  shape,  form,  colour  and  line  to  create  a  composition  which  may  exist  with  a  degree  of  independence  from  visual  references  in  the  world.  His  work,  like  all  good  abstract  art,  indicates  a  departure  from  reality  in  the  depiction  of  imagery  in  art.  There  is  something  poignant  about  each  piece  exhibited  in  the  show.

His  colour  palette  is  bold  and  daring.  He  uses  a  variety  of  colours  together,  but  they  all  complement  each  other  beautifully.  His  dark  backgrounds,  make  the  colours  in  the  forefront  pop.  It’s  fascinating  to  see  how  wonderfully  and  unexpectedly  the  colours  blend  to  create  each  perfect  piece.
 
The  best  thing  about  abstract  art  is  that  everyone  relates  to  it  based
on  their  experiences.  It  may  not  be  what  inspired  the  artist  to  create  the  piece,  but  the  artist  starts  the  dialogue  that  his  viewers  are  able  to  engage  in.  What  one  sees  and  relates  to  each  piece    is  based  entirely  on  personal    experiences  and  exposure.

S.M.  Naqvi  is  unapologetically  bold  in  his  artistic  endeavors.  His  paintings  stand  out  and  encourage  discourse  and  dialogue."
