Grew up in the artist’s family, seeing the process of painting from her very childhood enriched her mind with visuals. Instead of conventional and institutional art training, she had started to paint in her early 20s under the apprenticeship of Maqbool Ahmed. To enrich her conceptual grounds she studied philosophy which gave a whole new layer to her art work. Her work reflects the philosophical, more specifically metaphysical concerns, questioning human reality and existence. And for these principal questions she chooses to create silent, illusive spaces and enigmatic composition through basic lines, shapes, and forms, to make the viewer question the obvious and the common sense beliefs. Huma Maqbool holds a Masters in Philosophy from Karachi University and currently enrolled in M.A (Hons) in Visual Arts from National College of Arts. She worked as a visualizer and a storyboard artist at Time Wrap Films in Karachi. Also has worked as lecturer at Karachi School of Arts in 2016. Because of the interest in comics she has done cricket comic strip for Scoreline Magazine in Karachi. All these diverting experiences have enriched her art work. Recently, she shifted from Karachi now living and working in Lahore, Pakistan.
